Alutiiq Museum

This museum grew from the KANA, the Kodiak Area Native Association, and Heritage Division. In 1987, the association’s board of directors resolved that celebrating and exploring Native culture were essential to the Alutiiq communities’ well-being. To support and share the communities’ cultural heritage, KANA established programs to teach the Alutiiq language and arts and to explore the Aluttiq history, with the vision of developing a museum for the Alutiiq community,
